Which orthodontic treatment is right for me?

When it comes to the longevity of your teeth, orthodontic treatment may be the answer, but figuring out which treatment is right for you can be a hard task given the number of options out there. Here at Wahroonga Family Dental Centre, we want to help fill in the gaps and show you some options which may be for you.

Non-extraction orthodontics is a popular choice for our clients and we strongly encourage it. By using removable appliances it avoids having to remove any of your own teeth. Below is a list of options we are excited to offer you to improve your biggest selling point; your smile.

Transparent aligners

Picture an extremely thin and clear mouthguard. The benefit of transparent aligners means people who suffer from metal allergies can use them easily along with being able to remove them as they please. They are able to be worn while eating and are extremely discreet. Only with close inspection would anyone spot them. Being removable also makes them extremely hygienic as after each meal you can take them out and give your teeth and aligner a good clean.

Each aligner is custom made and updated every few weeks to assist with a movement for optimal effect over the period of use.

Ceramic Braces

Instead of the traditional metal brackets, ceramic braces are more discreet and most people have noted less discomfort with ceramic braces. They have a more discrete look with a more natural tooth colour to blend in with your smile more effectively than the metal. This makes them perfect for a business or high school lifestyle where discretion is key for survival (for high school at least).

Lingual Braces

Lingual braces are the perfect discrete option for people who are self-conscious. They’re discrete because they are applied behind the teeth, making them almost invisible but they still provide results for gaps between teeth, misaligned bites and crowding. Because they are custom made each time, there is minimal discomfort and only a minimal adjustment period.

We want to help guide you through the process with as much ease as possible. We strongly support non-extraction treatment because we believe in keeping your original teeth. Within our practice, we are proud to offer all of these orthodontic treatments.
