Children's Dentistry
We help your children develop their own desire to take care of their teeth and remove dental anxieties and fears of visiting the dentist.
Quote: “On a personal note, I am married with three daughters. In any treatment, I feel that the best question to ask is ‘What would I do for my family in this situation?’. This influences everything we do” — Dr Andrew Freelander
Our practice makes children’s dentistry educational, caring and fun…
We understand that children aren’t used to working to a tight schedule, and as such we schedule children’s dental appointments with plenty of time to ensure that they receive the care that they deserve. Our fun and friendly dentists ensure that oral health care is never dull at our Wahroonga dental practice.
From your child’s first appointment, through to their regular dental care, Wahroonga Family Dental Centre is committed to making children’s dentistry caring, fun and educational.
Tell – show – do
At Wahroonga Family Dental Centre, we make it a priority to embody a tell – show – do approach with our youngest patients. Encouraging children to participate in their dental appointment can be beneficial for a number of reasons, including:
- By keeping children involved in their appointment we can help to make them feel relaxed and at ease throughout the duration of their appointment
- In playing an active role in their dental appointment, children can begin to develop a greater desire to maintain great dental health at home
- By opening the lines of communication with our dental professionals and our youngest patients we can help to find a dental partnership that can ensure great dental health for life.
Helping to eliminate children’s dental anxiety
Our dental professionals are aware that children and parents alike can be anxious about visiting the dentist. Often it is the loss of control which can be the most intimidating. Our team ensures that each of our patients, young or old, are aware of each step of their treatment. We also strive to achieve a relaxing and fun atmosphere in our practice that all of our patients can enjoy.
Dental care at home
It is important that you help your child to partner professional dental care with a great oral hygiene routine at home. This means brushing twice a day and flossing at least once as soon as the teeth have erupted. Before that we would recommend that you use a damp cloth to gently clean your child’s gums.
